Personal Summary

Born on 23 December 1962, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan was commissioned in the GD(P) Branch of PAF on 23 December 1983. During training at PAF Academy Asghar Khan, he received the coveted Sword of Honour, Best Pilot Trophy and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gold Medal. He is a graduate of Pakistan Air Force War College and holds an MSc in War Studies and Defence Management. After doing his Fighter and Operational Conversion Courses, he served as Combat Pilot in various frontline Fighter Squadrons. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) and a graduate of prestigious PAF Combat Commanders’ School. He commanded an elite No 11 Fighter Squadron, No 36 Flying Wing and two elite F-16 PAF Operational Bases (Mushaf and Shahbaz)- a rare distinction indeed to Command two F-16 Bases. He rose to the office of Air Officer Commanding Central Air Command, PAF managing Operational and Administration affairs of Four Operational Bases under his Command. In key staff appointments at Air Headquarters, the Air Chief Marshal has served as Deputy Director Operations (Tactical Operations), Personal Staff Officer to two Chief of The Air Staff, Assistant Chief of The Air Staff (Operations), Deputy Chief of The Air Staff (Operations), Director General C4I, Director General Air Force Strategic Command and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Support). As an Air Marshal, he also held two PSOs Appointments simultaneously till assumption of PAF Command. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan has attended various professional fighter flying courses, including Flying Instructors’ Course and Combat Commanders’ Course. He has also undergone Air Command & Staff Course (Jordan), Command Management Course, National Security & War Course and Senior Executive & National and International Security Course from Harvard University, USA. With rich flying experience of 3000 hours to his credit, he has flown a variety of trainer and fighter aircraft on PAF Inventory, including F-16, F-6, FT-5, T-37, and MFI-17. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan assumed the PAF Command as Chief of the Air Staff on 18 March, 2018 and relinquished his appointment after distinguished Service of three years tenure on 19 March, 2021. President of Pakistan decorated the Air Chief Marshal with Nishan-i-Imtiaz for a swift and befitting response to Pakistan arch rival India in Operation Swift Retort on 27 February, 2019. In recognition of his meritorious and exceptionally dedicated services, he has been decorated with Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Civil), Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military). He is also recipient of “The Legion of Merit” of the Turkish Armed Forces by the Republic of Turkey. His Royal Highness Muhammad Bin Salman, Crown Prince, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia awarded “King Abdul Aziz Medal of Excellence” for augmenting the Defence Cooperation between Royal Saudi and Pakistan Air Force. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan is a “Fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society”, he has also been the “Chairman of Royal Aeronautical Society Islamabad Chapter” from year 2016 to 2018. He has held an appointment of “President Pakistan Squash Federation” from year 2018 to 2021. Married to Mrs Tazeen Mujahid in 1987. She also comes from bureaucratic family of Islamabad and holds Master in Nutrition from Home Economics College Lahore. She is a qualified Nutritionist and is also a passionate Educationist. The couple is blessed with two children, a son, qualified Financial Analyst and a daughter, Dentist by Profession. The husband and wife, both are keen golfers and swimmers.
