Personal Summary

Ather currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Sybrid Private Limited and ICE Animations Private Limited, both part of the prestigious Lakson Group of Pakistan. He has been actively serving on the boards of several educational and philanthropic organizations for over a decade. Sybrid is one of Pakistan’s largest technology solutions providers, with subsidiaries in the USA, UAE, and Australia, and a presence in other countries. Sybrid offers software products and services, digital transformation, digital performance marketing, healthcare revenue cycle management, technology solutions, customer support, and managed services to clients worldwide. With offices in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Khairpur, and international locations, Sybrid and ICE Animations employ over 2,000 professionals. As CEO, Ather oversees operational, business, and financial matters, reporting directly to the Chairman of the Board.

Ather was the founding Chairman of the Board for OPEN Islamabad and later served as its President (2016–2018) and on the OPEN Global Board. OPEN is the largest global network of Pakistani-origin professionals and entrepreneurs. Ather continues to serve on the OPEN Islamabad Board of Trustees. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) and Purdue University, respectively. He earned a Gold Medal for academic excellence at GIKI (1999) and is an honorary member of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon IEEE Computer Science Honor Society (2003). Ather has published research on the role of Agile practices in disaster management and business continuity, which he presented at the IBM CASCON Conference in Toronto (2009). He is also a certified ScrumMaster (Virginia, 2006). Ather serves on the boards of the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation, which is building the first Pediatric Cardiology Hospital in Pakistan, and on the Boards of Governors of the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar, and Pak-Austria Fachhochschule, Haripur, KPK. He has contributed to Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) through roles on the National Scholarship Management Committee and the Steering Committee for Improving ORIC Functions in Universities. Currently, he serves on NUST’s Research & Innovation Committee. In addition to his professional commitments, Ather frequently delivers guest lectures at prestigious institutions such as the National Defence University (NDU) and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). He also shares his expertise through public forums and university engagements, inspiring the next generation of leaders.
